Swordsmen

My first attempt at a fighting scene and I must admit, it isn’t very good either but here it is.

The swords clashed and sparks flew in the darkness. The forest was awake, listening to the ongoing battle. The sound their sword resounded inside the forest cutting, from time to time, the flesh before it. The blood, clinging onto both swords, flung to the bleeding ground as well as onto to the sword marked trees. The swords clashed again and resounded throughout their bodies. The shorter one between them clenched his teeth. Several cuts made up his arms and a cut above his left eye partially blinded him. His limbs were heavy. His breathing was heavy. He could barely stand on his deeply gashed legs He tightened his sweaty palms around the shaft of the sword, winced in pain before charging in. His opponent, seeing the oncoming attack, chuckled and ginned as if accepting the challenge. He gripped his sword with both hands and crouched down, steadying himself for the attack.

The sound of horns resounded throughout the land, signaling the end of the war but neither of them paid any heed. Their fight went on, one fighting for the corpses lying beneath him, the other, for the sake of disposing his boredom. They both charged at each other. Piercing the skin, the blood flowed out and dripped along the sword. The light vanished from his eyes and he dropped his weapon.

“General, you are being called, ah…”

He pulled his sword out and the blood gushed out as the corpse joined the others. He wiped his sword and put it back into his sheath before answering, “Alright.”

While one joined his family, the other lived with his boredom, searching for a moment of happiness even if fleeting.
